Welcome!
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. ~ Helen Keller
Welcome to the 2011 – 2012 school year! My name is Mrs. Flores and I am your science instructor for this year. I teach Aquatic Science, Biology, and ESL Biology, and I serve as the Science Department Chair here at Reagan. This is my eighth year of teaching and my fifth year at Reagan High School. I thoroughly enjoy working with the students and faculty at Reagan.
I believe that science is the most exciting field in which to work due to the new discoveries made each day. Science is reaching new heights in the many expanding fields - from environmental science and alternative energies, genomics, nanotechnology and medical research, to space exploration!
I seek students who wish to explore, question, and learn with me through discovery science. I believe that all students can learn with enough effort, focus, and determination. I am here to assist you as you grow as a student and want to help prepare you for the STAAR or science TAKS exams.

Classroom Philosophy
My philosophy for the classroom is to clearly define all objectives, include technology, and as many hands-on laboratory activities as possible for modern learners! Throughout the year, you will create unique projects, design and carry out many lab experiments, read current science research and literature, and, with hope, begin to love and enjoy the world of science!
Open communication between the student, parent/guardian(s), and the teacher is vital for your success in this class. It is my hope that you, the student, take full responsibility for your learning and your academic progress by participating during class, turning in your assignments, and, if needed, attending tutorials for extra help. High school students are becoming young adults and must take an active role in their academics. I also send out regular email reminders for this class to inform students and parents of upcoming lessons, assignments, and class events. My email address is sflores8@houstonisd.org and I encourage you to email anytime you have questions and/or concerns.
