The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

Glowing Salamanders!
These six-month-old axolotls—a kind of salamander—glow green and blue under ultraviolet light. That's because they were genetically modified to make harmless green fluorescent protein, or GFP. Like X-ray vision, GFP lets you see inside the axolotls as they hang out in their aquarium. GFP not only can reveal internal structures in living organisms, but it also can light up specific cells and even proteins within a cell. That allows scientists to identify and track things like cancer cells. GFP's abilities have made it one of the most useful tools in biomedical research and earned its discoverers a Nobel Prize. Mission
My philosophy for the science classroom is to clearly define all objectives, include technology, and as many hands-on laboratory activities as possible for modern learners! Throughout the year, you will work with other students in group projects, design and carry out many lab experiments, read and analyze current science literature, and, with hope, begin to love and enjoy the world of science!

Ms. Harrington's Background
Hello and welcome to the new school year at Reagan High School! I am Ms. Harrington and I teach general Biology, ESL Biology, and Aquatic Science. I am very excited about the upcoming year.
I am currently enrolled in the final year of a graduate program for a Master's of Education at the University of Houston - Downtown. This is my sixth year of teaching. I believe that all students can learn with enough effort and determination. I work hard every day and expect hard work from each of my students.
I thoroughly enjoy working with the students and faculty at Reagan High School. I believe that science is the most exciting field in which to work due to the new discoveries made each day. Science is reaching new heights in the many expanding fields from environmental science and alternative energies, genomics, nanotechnology and medical research, to space exploration! I seek students who wish to explore, question, and learn with me through discovery science.
